Dr. Rick Relyea Appointed Inaugural Director
Dr. Rick Relyea has been named the inaugural director of the Johnny Morris Institute of Fisheries, Wetlands and Aquatic Systems at the University of Missouri, beginning July 1, 2025. Dr. Relyea brings extensive experience in freshwater research and institute leadership. As director and William J. Rucker Professor in Fisheries and Wildlife, he will lead efforts in research, education, and outreach to advance aquatic ecosystem management.

Cara Coates appointed as new Associate Program Director
The Johnny Morris Institute is delighted to announce that Cara Coates has been chosen as our new Associate Program Director. Cara will lead our initiatives on experiential learning, workforce development, and conservation education.
Cara specializes in translating complex natural resource science into accessible programs that strengthen student engagement. She is recognized for building strategic partnerships, improving program efficiency, and expanding engagement across diverse audiences.
